In short
Sonikr Media Hub is designed around a library stored on your own device. We process additional information when you visit our website, create an account, contact us, or choose to use connected features.
Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Sonikr website, Sonikr Media Hub desktop application, and related services that link to this policy (together, the “Services”). It does not apply to third-party websites, services, or applications that have their own privacy notices.
In this policy, “Sonikr,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Services. For data protection laws where a controller must be identified, Sonikr acts as the controller of the personal information described here unless stated otherwise.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information: such as your email address, account credentials, and account preferences when you create or use an account.
- Purchase information: such as product, license, transaction status, and billing-related records. Payment card details are generally processed by our payment providers rather than stored by Sonikr.
- Communications: the information you include when contacting support, sending feedback, or communicating with us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and technical information: such as operating system, app version, language, device identifiers, IP address, and diagnostic information.
- Website and product activity: such as pages viewed, referring pages, interactions, feature use, crash data, and approximate location derived from IP address.
- Connection information: when you use Remote Access or Shared Links, we may process account, device, network, link, access, and security information needed to establish, maintain, and protect the connection.
Your local media library
Sonikr Media Hub scans folders you select so the application can organize and display your media library. The fact that a file is included in your local library does not, by itself, send the file to Sonikr.
Library information such as filenames, folder paths, media metadata, artwork, playlists, favorites, and playback state is primarily handled on your device. If you enable an optional connected feature, selected content or related metadata may be transmitted as needed to provide that feature. For example:
- Remote Access may transmit connection and authentication information and make library content available to an authenticated remote device.
- Shared Links may make the content you select and related metadata available through the link according to the permissions and expiration settings you choose.
You are responsible for choosing what to make remotely accessible or share and for ensuring you have the necessary rights to that content.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- provide, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the Services;
- create and manage accounts, licenses, purchases, and connected features;
- respond to support requests and other communications;
- understand performance and improve product usability and reliability;
- prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and other harmful activity;
- send service messages and, where permitted, product or marketing communications;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
Where required by law, we rely on one or more legal bases, including performance of a contract, our legitimate interests, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent.
Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide the Services, maintain business and transaction records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet legal requirements.
Retention periods vary according to the type of information, why it was collected, the sensitivity of the data, and applicable legal obligations. Local library information remains on your device unless you remove it, uninstall the application, or use a connected feature that processes it separately.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or loss. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You can help protect your information by using a strong, unique password, keeping your devices and Sonikr software updated, limiting access to Shared Links, and disabling Remote Access when it is not needed.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a decision concerning a privacy request.
You may also:
- update certain account information through your account settings;
- disable Remote Access or delete Shared Links in the application;
- unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the message;
- manage website cookies through the available consent controls and your browser.
To exercise a privacy right, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
International data transfers
Sonikr and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as recognized contractual protections, and take steps intended to protect the information in accordance with this policy.
Children’s privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our Services, practices, or legal obligations change. We will post the updated version here and revise the effective date. If a change is material, we may provide additional notice through the website, application, or email where appropriate.
